Five guaranteed games. A placement for everyone.

Group play Thursday to Saturday decides who reaches the semifinals; every other team plays a placement game on Sunday. Every game has a fixed 60-minute slot, man-to-man defense in the half court (full-court presses and traps allowed), FIBA rules.

Thursday – Saturday

Group stage

Groups of 4, round robin, plus a Saturday crossover game against a team from another group. Opening night Thursday 18:00 at Taipei Gymnasium.

Sunday

Playoffs

Semifinals for the top four seeds; placement games for 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th. Finals on Court A1; all courts finish by 16:00.

Rules

Built for development

Four 10-minute quarters on a running clock. Man-to-man only in the half court; full-court presses and traps are allowed. Up to 15 players, and all 15 may dress and play. Tiebreakers cap point differential at ±15 per game, so running up the score doesn't help.

Four divisions

Age cut-off is January 1. Passport is checked at registration (no other ID accepted). Taiwan, as host, enters one team in every group; every other country may enter up to one team per group.

How to register

Everything is done online. Submitting doesn't guarantee a place: we review registrations on a rolling basis, and the organizers decide which teams are accepted and how they are grouped, with at most one team per country in each group.

  1. 1
    Register online
At least 6 players, lodging and extras, the signed agreement and payment in full. Registration opens October 10, 2026.
  2. 2
    Review
We review registrations on a rolling basis; the organizers decide acceptance and groups and email you the result. Teams not placed get a full refund.
  3. 3
    Roster & documents
Players are added by photographing their passports. Until Jan 3, 21:00 Taipei, you can add, swap or retake players on your team page (up to 15).
  4. 4
    Reduce lodging & extras
Through Dec 20, reduce lodging, extra banquet tickets or merchandise on your team page; the actual refundable amount returns to the original card. After the deadline, these changes close. To add items before the deadline, contact wen@aybc.org.
  5. 5
    Confirmed
Schedule published with team names; your team packet and invitation letter for visas.
  6. 6
    Check-in
Thu, Jan 7: check in at your tournament hotel or the A1 Help Desk, Taipei Gymnasium (18:00–22:00); bring passports for tournament IDs and T-shirts. Then the coach checks in 45 min before each day's first game — tournament IDs only.
